Arcsoft Capture Module

Hi, i've got a problem with my software and have no idea how to resolve it. Basically when i go into the video setup settings and try to select the capture source, there are only options for composite and S-video.

The capture card i'm using is capable of component/YPbPr signals yet there doesnt seem to be any option to use this setting in the software. I've seen loads of videos from other people with exactly this same product and software and the option to choose this setting is there, for some reason though its missing on mine and i've no idea why. The version i'm using is powerdirector 7 and i'm running on windows vista 64bit if thats any help. Any help fixing this problem would be much appreciated ^^. Quote: This was the software that came with the capture card and in all the videos i've seen of people showing how to use it, they recorded and editted with powerdirectorThere are some conditions where the Capture Module will capture HD video. Usually only if the input is HD from Firewire (A Camera). Composite or S-Video is always SD.The best way is to record using the Capture Card Software, then use the Import function in the Edit Module to bring the video into the Media Library.

From the Media Library, to the Timeline. If you have ArcSoft software, you can capture as M2TS or TS or MP4. In my experience, ArcSoft MP4 is a bit odd, so it is best to use M2TS or TS.Windows 7 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1 GB,256GB SSD,1TB HD.Not responsible for any harm that may come to your wallet. I have tried connecting the capture card to my game console when its using a graphics setting that requires component cables so the input should have registered as HD. The 'capture card software' IS powerdirector, its the bundled software that came with it for both recording and editing the videos so i would have expected the software to be able to do component input just like the card itself. Ohh and yes the card is outputting the component signal perfectly well to the TV so its not the card itself i dont thinkI do have the ArcSoft Showbiz software from a previous capture device i bought, however whenever i try to connect it to the capture card it says 'device is not available' so i dont think i can use that. The only other software i have is this strange one called TiVme. While it does seem able to recognize the capture card and record in component settings, it is a very tricky program and doesnt offer alot of options for refining the picture or changing many settings.

However it does show that the card itself can use component signals perfectly fine, which says to me the problem lies in the power director software itself missing this option for some reason. Seeing that other people showing how to use this software and product together has the setting i seem to be missing, i'm wondering if i'm missing some vital update or if there's some tip for making this option appearSorry if i'm explaining this badly or not understanding whats being said, this stuff can be very confusing.

Quote: Sorry if i'm explaining this badly or not understanding whats being said, this stuff can be very confusingYou are explaining just fine. What does the instructions if any say about capturing HD video source. What is the model number and brand name of your capture device? There has to be a physical device that connects to the component ouputs. How is that device connected to the computer? What software came with the device other than Powerdirector 7?There has to be a Driver software Disk. On that disk should be a capture software. Is it possible for you to provide a link to the manufacturer of that device or the place where you bought the device? The key to solving this problem is details. The capture card in question is the Kworld GM220 from:As for how it connects its pretty simple.

On one side goes the input cables from the console to the device, on the other side is the output cables that go to your tv. Then on a 3rd side is a USB cable that connects the device to your computer. It is clearly capable of recording component as the manufacturer's site says it supports upto 1080i aswell as a YPbPr, though that was obvious enough cus there's space to plug such cables inThe software that came with the device was all in 1 installation disc and included the driver for the device, PowerDirector and that strange TiVme program i mentioned which isnt very good. Every single video i've seen of people showing how to use the capture card says to ignore that program as its just a company extra and simply use PowerDirector, which they then proceed to demons without problem. That and the program pictured on the website itself is PowerDirector tells me its the program i'm supposed to useAfter testing the device with all the programs i have, i dont think the device itself is the problem as it can pick up and pass on component signal perfectly fine. That and the fact though the extra piece of software is glitchy and not very good to use, it shows the capture card is recording perfectly fine which tells me the problem has to be with PowerDirector missing an option. Infact i can show you my problem exactly, here is a video showing how to use and record with this product:.

My issue comes at the 8:30 mark, this guy has 4 settings he can choose from, 1 of which is the component option i'm looking for. Whenever i go to this screen however i only have the composite and s-video options, the other 2 are missingSo yeah, this has me rather stumped. I've followed all the instructions, even re-installed the drivers incase they where downloaded wrong but still i dont know why the program isnt showing the other 2 options.

Thank you for the link to your device. The specifications on your device states:Record resolution:NTSC 720 x 480 @ 30 FPSPAL 720 x 576 @ 25 FPSThe high definition input and outputs are pass-through. Meaning that what is connected to the input is passed to the output with no change. It says very plainly that the record is SD.You software and device is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.If you want to record HD from component video you need a different device.Look up hauppauge.com HD-PVR. There are two devices, one is for recording Game play. Hmm i'm still a little confused. It clearly says it can accept YPbPr cables (the fact you can plug them in shows that anyway) and can record upto 1080i, heck it even says high definiton on the box.

Plus in that video i showed, the guy is clearly using exactly the same product and yet this option is available. His is not the only video either, there are many videos out there testing this device and it works perfectly for them so doesnt the device work as intended? I'm just curious about why i seem to be getting a different result from other people when i use exactly the same device and programsThinking about it too, the fact i used it in the extra program when it was set to component and it worked, doesnt that prove it works?

Plus i'm not really looking for 'HD' as i'm recording a wii. I'm trying to use the wii component cables cus they create a sharper image when it goes from 480i to 480p. Surely if the device says it can accept YPbPr and you can plug such cables into it, it must be able to read it right?Again sorry if i'm not understanding or missing something here, i'm just trying to figure out why its working for everyone else but not meOhh and yes i've looked at the HD-PVR but that is very expensive and not really unnecessary as i'm not needing 1080p. The specs mean that you can connect the component cables and the monitor/TV will display HD.But the Recording from that component video will be recorded (mpg file) as Standard Definition 720x480/576 Pixels. That is exactly what Powerdirector is getting in the Capture Module. I get what your saying and i know this device wasnt made for movie like quality but there's still something about this that doesnt add upFirstly i've been doing a little more testing with that TiVme program by putting various HD signals through the device. The program could read upto 1080i component with no problem just like it claims on the box and the site. Therefore doesnt that mean the device itself is working perfectly well and is fully capable of reading these cables?Secondly while i do get it states the pal screen size that itself isnt the problem. The main issue is many other people have gotten this exact same product and have used the power director program to record with it. There is much video evidence of this where people show when this device is plugged into it, 4 video source options become available and yet when i try exactly the same setup, i only get 2 options. Even if the recording ability of the device is still under question, it doesnt explain how with the same setup of device and program i seem to be getting 2 less options than other people. Do you understand what i mean, even if the device truely wasnt able to record with settings they should still appear like they do when other people use itAll in all i'm still convinced the device actually works because it can record component signal with other programs (which i'm tempted to start using over powerdirector).

Afterall, it would be pretty stupid to make a capture card you can plug component cables into if it truely couldnt use them at all. So if the device is working, and other people can use powerdirector with it and still make it work, this tells me there must be something wrong with my powerdirector to make me have a different result and cause these final 2 options to not appear.

You get what i'm meaning? I contacted customer support for powerdirector and finally figured out what the problem was. What happened was there was already a copy of powerdirector7 on my computer by default so when i installed the disc (which happened to be version 8 ) it didnt replace the version i already had.

Arcsoft Capture Module Not Responding

Just deleted the old version and ran the installation disc again and now everythings working as it should. Well almost, been playing around and the program crashed twice already, might need breaking in or getting used to but that shouldnt be much. Guess all this was something about it being version 7 of the program, ohh wellThanks for trying to help ^^.
